The Smithsonian American Art Museum is specially training docents to lead tours for blind and visually impaired art lovers. What are some of the techniques used? Carol Wilson who trains the 12 volunteer docents invites visually impaired visitors to imitate the pose of a sculpture and for docents to use other senses in their verbal descriptions such as taste or playing music.
