Our congregation had its rally day today. It's also the last summer day with no 11:00 AM service, and the first day of Sunday school for the school year. When we came to the parking lot, it was hard to find place to park!
I'll admit my first response was to think, "Maybe this will solve the extreme budget crunch we had back in June." Perhaps a bit selfish to think of the church finances, but it was the first good thing I thought about with a full parking lot.
Q: Do rally days traditionally signify a "one-week bump" in attendance, or a sign of things to come for the long-term?

"You need to come to church in the first place precisely because you are first of this world, not apart from it. You need to embrace Christ precisely because you have sins to wash away - because you are human and need an ally in this difficult journey." -- Barack Obama, June 28, 2006
