Background:
In 2021, the legislature passed the landmark “Clean Electricity for All” bill, House Bill 2021, which included a 4 year, $50 million grant program to support community-based energy resilience and clean energy projects. The first round of applications opened in June of 2022, offering $12 million in grants. Over 68 applications from around the state came in, requesting over $27 million in grants. This summer and fall, Oregon Department of Energy staff and an external review committee have worked through a competitive review process to select which projects will be awarded. This review process will wrap up with awards being announced in early October. Applicants that do not get selected in this round are encouraged to apply for the second round of funding, opening later in October.
