ACTIONPlease sign the public petition in support of a strong Climate Protection Plan (CPP)

REQUEST: We are asking local League members throughout Oregon to sign the petition in support of this critical rulemaking and build momentum for stronger Climate action through the CPP.  [You don't have to be a member to sign the petition. -Brian]

DEADLINE: ASAP, DEQ comment period is ending August 21, 2024
DEQ may extend the comment period into September. Look for additional information in the Legislative report. We expect the next public hearing as early as September 4, 2024.

We need your support to keep the Climate Protection Plan strong.

By signing this petition, you can tell DEQ Rulemakers what matters to you.

  • Reducing fossil fuel pollution in our state by 90% by 2050.
  • Having cleaner air and clean energy jobs for family and community.
  • Investments in under-served communities to help manage the impacts of extreme weather created by climate change.
Check out the Coalition for Climate and Economic Justice (CCEJ) website to learn more about this important program for Oregon and sign the public petition today!

BACKGROUND: The courts blocked enforcement of the Climate Protection Plan because of a clerical error in December, 2023. Now, just as the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is trying to reinstate the program, Oil and Gas industry executives are aiming to weaken it by trying to lower the greenhouse gas reduction goals for Oregon’s heaviest polluters.
