DEVON ANDERSON NAMED NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF

EPISCOPALIANS FOR GLOBAL RECONCILIATION (EGR)

May 14, 2009

The Board of Directors of EGR today announced the selection of the Rev. Devon Anderson as the new Executive Director of EGR.  Devon follows the initial EGR Director, the Rev. Michael Kinman.  Selected from an extensive pool of applicants, Devon brings experience, passion and leadership skills to her new job.

For the past two years, Devon has led an organizing initiative within the Diocese of Minnesota to mobilize “people in the pews” around the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).  She also serves on the leadership team for the Episcopal Public Narrative Project which will teach the art of Public Narrative to all General Convention deputies in 2009.  From 1998 to 2007 Devon served as Associate Rector, first at St. Clare of Assisi in Ann Arbor, Michigan and then at St. John the Baptist in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  In the 1990s Devon served as a senior legislative assistant for U.S Senator Carl Levin. Within the Episcopal Church Devon has served on a number of committees and national bodies including a six-year term on the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music (2003-2009).

EGR Board President, John Hammock, states, “Devon combines experience at the local and national church level with experience in Washington DC and in community organizing.  But most important is her passion for the MDGs and the mission of EGR.”

Devon begins her work as Executive Director on May 15, 2009.  She will be based in Minneapolis.  Says Devon, “EGR is a vibrant, limber organization dedicated to building a movement within our church toward the eradication of global poverty.  It is an incredible honor to be called to serve EGR and our church in this way.”
