Saturday was everything I expected from the Falcons this weekend. Which is what makes the swoon on Friday all the more baffling. The loss was a "bad" one, but the rebound and complete game the next night hints that they guys might have let themselves believe in their ability to win "in a hurry" on Friday and snapped out of it the next night. Hopefully that specific kind of gaffe doesn't happen again, it is the kind that can be avoided.
The thought is being echoed in other articles but I really agree with the view that the WCHA is both far stronger than expected. I'm not 100% behind the idea that the league isn't getting the respect that comes with that. MSU and BG are right where they belong. The rest of circulating in fair positions below us. And the churn in other leagues validates the polls overall.
If anything it is the Big Ten that is simply overrated. My feeling is that there are a lot of Big Ten writers who are still not fully adjusted to the fact the league was formed and hasn't lived up to the hype surrounding it. Some of these people are looking for an excuse to elevate weak programs higher than they should be.
