Nick
Phil
Rob
Evgeniy
Pasha
Martin
Alex S.
Anyone else available? 2 more and I think it's worth it.

He will be ready for Dynamo next season, and maybe with a couple of
other young guys with the same skill level (but a bit smaller).

Sorry that Mitchell could not make this trip, he was ready to play as
much as needed. His right thumb is broken where it meets his hand,
that is the worst place for a finger break and he is in a cast for 4
weeks (just happened on the 7th at practice in Winnipeg). Hopefully he
will get the cast off on the 5th and be able to go to Cadet Nationals
with Bushido, and then the Youth National Team camp two weeks later.
He will be ready for Dynamo next season, and maybe with a couple of
other young guys with the same skill level (but a bit smaller).

The idea of an international squad like Dynamo is great for the league
since it keeps older guys playing in a social network while passing
skills on to young players. Dynamo is just a bit too much on the side
of "the social" and not enough on the side of "the mentor". That will
change in 2007-08 when I promote 3 or 4 Bushido Youth players for
guidance in the water and under fire. They won't be able to afford all
the events on the coast but they will be able to say in the fall which
events they can afford if the league has the vision and foresight to
plan and disclose schedules early enough (another issue altogether). I
will cater our Youth Team events to the CWPL so that the boys can play
as many games at the highest level possible.
In September Nick will be living in Winnipeg for a few months and this
will be a great opportunity for our young guys to hear from him at
every practice about their focus and development along a Men's league
plan instead of a kids "3 tournament season" plan. It is very hard to
teach kids about practice purpose and intensity when they only play
10-15 games per season and they have to travel 500km (300+ miles) for
the nearest competitor. So, I am working behind the scenes to help
bolster the Dynamo effort in 2008.

I know some guys here in Vancouver who have been contributing for
years to a scholarship fund at Simon Fraser University for this
reason. They have expressed frustration at how poorly administered
this fund is and I think it might be possible to lure them into
contributing via Dynamo instead. In exchange we could put sponsor
logos on our jerseys, suits, etc.
Just a thought, but it might help step water polo in Canada up to a
new level...
