Sir,

Reg: Headlight of Battery Rickshaw.

Concerned Department: Delhi Traffic Police

It has been observed that after sun set when most vehicles switch on their head lights the battery rickshaw drivers do not. On inquiry from few, it was found that this is done just to save battery power. This makes spotting rickshaw by pedestrians difficult during dark and may cause an accident. It is felt that enforcement of rules to switch-on head light by these rickshaws may be practically difficult because traffic police cannot be present on all nook & corner, specifically internal streets. Since rickshaw drivers are poor chaps, Delhi police is requested to take up this matter with manufacturers for a change in design to fit LED light which consume negligible electricity. This LED light may not be sufficient to illuminate road surface enabling driver to see but at least would keep the rickshaw visible to other road users and improve road safety.

For consideration please.

Please acknowledge.
