DOPT

(1)             In reply, no PIO or FAA is writing his name. This is against the prescribed format of secretariat practices of issuing letter by Government offices. Further, for filing second appeal the CIC demands name of PIO, so in the absence of name it becomes difficult to go to CIC. A direction in this regard needs to be issued.

(2)             The recently introduced OTP to check the status of RTI application is causing difficulties the OPT does not come for a long time, keeping applicant to wait. Further, if you want to check the status of more than one RTI application you will not know to which application the OTP belongs. So, RTI application number must come along with OPT. Suitable corrective measures are required. The option to use log in password may also be enabled as an alternative to OTP.

Now a days may PIOs are not sending hard copy but uploading reply on RTI portal, so on one side applicant wont received any hard copy other side he also cannot check the reply on portal because of non-receipt of OPT.   While OTP has been introduced the option to check the status could be made available by providing log in password. Also, immediately after uploading of reply by PIO, an email is shot by server to inform the applicant about this. At this stage, instead of sending the information email the reply submitted by PIO may itself be sent to applicant. This will obviate the need to check the stats and would reduce burden on the server.

(3)             The demand of Rs.2 for one page of photocopy is too inefficient and is a burden on system. This needs to be looked into. The concept of emailing requisite documents may be introduced. The RTI fee may, if necessary, be increased to Rs.25/- to include emailing up to 5 pages.

(4)             The present module does not allow writing RTI in Hindi, which is against the rajbhasha norms and needs corrective measure.
