Sir,

PMOPG/E/2022/0253236

Reg: Road Identification marks in Dwarka.

Concerned Department: DDA

Grievance: Dwarka was inhabited almost three decades back and now a huge population is staying here. The Dwarka is having several icons like Diplomatic Enclave, Bharat Vandana Park, Several Malls, Gold Course, Sports Complexes etc. Despite such big ticket items some basic things are lacking even today.

(i)            Non-of the intersections or T points on roads have been given any identification number. This is a fundamental need, not only this there are several roads that have still not been given any identification number. The issue is, in the absence of such authenticated identification marks, the raising of any issue concerning any specific location before any authority like DDA, MCD, Traffic Police, Horticulture Department etc. becomes difficult. One has to make efforts even to explain the location and in the first instance, authorities would not understand the location and try to avoid the issue causing unnecessary trouble to citizens. This also created issue while explaining address to someone visiting Dwarka.

(ii)           The name of NH-8 was changed to NH-48 several years back but DDA has still failed in putting the correct number on sign boards. All the navigation tools show it as NH-48 but DDA boards will show as NH-8, leading to confusion to every new comer.

(iii)          There are shortage of sufficient number of road signages. The overhead as well as shoulder mounted board both are inadequate. The overhead sign boards must be fixed on every crossing/T point existing on master plan roads.

Solution: In view of this it is advised that DDA may be issued directions to look  into above issues for taking appropriate corrective measures in a time bound manner.

For consideration please.

Please acknowledge.

Regards,
