"Currently, a standardized list of facilities for publicly funded higher education hostels in India is lacking. This absence results in significant disparities in amenities across institutions, leading to inequitable resource allocation. To ensure uniformity and optimize public funds, clear guidelines are needed, categorizing facilities into essential and desirable tiers.

19.  Lifts,

20.  Intercom,

21.  Supply of electricity at domestic rates etc.,

22.  high speed wi-fi

23.  Electric hot plate,

25.  TV Screen,

26.  Well maintained common room,

27.  State-of-the-art cooking utensils for canteen etc,

 

 

By adopting this two-tiered approach, we can ensure a baseline standard of living for all students in publicly funded hostels, while allowing for the responsible allocation of additional resources for desirable amenities. The implementation of these guidelines will prevent the current extremes of luxury hostels in some institutions and basic amenity deprivation in others, promoting equitable distribution of resources."
