Help! Tracing image won't go transparent!

Hi Everybody,
When I bring in a large tracing image (1152 * 900) to dreamweaver,
the transparency slider is ineffective at making the image become
transparent. Small tracing images work (400 * 400) but I need the
functionality of a large tracing image.
