Dear DoES,

My name is Charlie Skyler and I was reccomended to contact you, because I have a little problem which you (or someone you know) might be able to solve for me in the DoES community.

I have a fairphone 5 and it has some rather entrenched malware within it (I'm not very tech savvy, so I don't know how to look to find out where exactly and where exactly it is in my device (and hopefully get rid of it)? I would be more than willing to pay someone to help me find, and get rid of the culprit. Factory resetting doesn't work to get rid of it. Reflashing it and putting a new OS (e/OS) did temporarily work, but then the issues came back again.

From what I hear it could be a Bluetooth related problem (Blueborn or something similar, which affects the whole phone, but I'm not sure (it could be other types of malware too). The main symptoms are that:

I'm constantly hearing a high pitched whistle
The battery goes right down really quickly
App options are greyed out when they shouldn't be in the settings menu
The sensors off button turns itself off after being pressed on
Security software turns itself off when it shouldn't
The mic, camera, parental control, NFC services, tethering, ntfy, remote provisioner, captive portal login, wfd service, android.media:10098, murena voice to text, emergency alerts/information, permission controller apps and codeaurora.ims apps and location, nearby devices and body sensor functions turn themselves on when ive not asked them to.
The phone releases lots of heat when it shouldn't
It seems like the room is being scanned by something coming from the phone (I'm very touch and sound sensitive).

If you (or anyone you know) could sort this problem out for me, then I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much,

Charlie Skyler
