Here you have a delightful selection to choose your favorite 2 definitions for the word "grigori." The deadline will be January 20th at 9 am Tuesday morning, or before if everyone has voted who has submitted a definition. Please vote as soon as possible and don't look anything up!

Best wishes!

1. Lay assistants to cardinals while they reside in the Vatican.

2. A watchman’s drill to ward off drowsiness.

3. Watchful

4. Pasta in the form of little peaked hats filled with a savory mixture.

5. A light open horse-drawn carriage for one person, with two or four wheels.

6. A pretender to a throne (after the character in Pushkin's play Boris Godunov)

7. N. A sociable man. From the adj. "gregarious."

8. A local leader or mayor; originally the title of officials in the Ligurian Republic.

9. A fraudulent faith healer who exploits the vulnerable.

10. A species of deep-sea octopus (Octopus grigorius) discovered in 2019 near hydrothermal vents in the Pacific Ocean. Named after the octopus character in Thomas Pynchon's novel Gravity's Rainbow.

11. A charm or amulet which can bring either good or bad luck dependent upon how you give it. To pass it on openly brings evil but to pass it on secretly can bring beneficial results to both giver and recipient.

12. Ballet. The name in the Vaganova method for the grand jeté.

13. Thin metal tabs used to align rail joints before bolting.

14. A style of lettering in medieval manuscripts.

15. The Grigori Calendar, also known as the Coptic Calendar, is the calendar used by the Coptic Orthodox Church. Based on the ancient Egyptian calendar, it has 12 months of 30 days each and a short intercalary month of 5 days, or 6 days in a leap year.

a) I withdraw my DQ as the expected definition isn't among the offerings
