Well, it was supposed to be Shani's deal anyway. Maybe she should step in and give you a breather?

Aside from the obvious, the word "sublingual" in my def (#2), which is spelled correctly in the copy of my email to the dealer in my Sent Mail folder, somehow became "sublingusk" in the list. Similar things may have happened in other defs - I haven't checked, and even if I found a typo I don't have the "as sent" version to confirm that it wasn't sent that way.

I suggest we pretend this all never happened, other than adding "klendusic" to the Used Words list, and let Shani deal Round 3467 if she will. Or should we call it Round 3468?

We have always kept the round number the same on previous occasions, of which there have been a few: 1038, 1305, 1453, 1794, 1944, 2398, 3015, 3387.

And an unexpected gap in the numbering after 35 years might make old scorekeeping programs choke.

I recommend that we keep the round number unchanged with a new dealer, word and deadline.

At least your definition appeared even if misspelled -- I was DQ anyway

Makes sense to me. After all, we don't change the round number when we replace a word for some other reason, such as too many DQs or inadvertent disclosure.

Since it's now 1:42 am in New Zealand, let's just wait a few hours until Shani can respond.

There is a precedent for relieving someone of the duty of dealing;  perhaps with the title of Dealer Emeritus.
I remember Fernando Gelbard would never accept the deal (although he did once).

Mine too. I was going to complain, but I won't bother now!

Best wishes,

I've never seen that player's name.

He stopped playing after round 1000. I believe he was one of the original players.

Fernando used to submit some wonderfully funny defs - perhaps that's why he didn't often win the deal. His defs even had their own name, the Fernandef, usually easily spotted.

I agree with this suggestion. If a player wants to submit defs and vote, but not deal, then that's fine with me.

With the submitters' names, plus weird misspellings, plus a multiple listing, this is priceless. Monumental. It's a historic moment. I propose that hereafter we call a deal that is messed up on more than one axis a Sublingusk. Or we could just call it a Klendusic. Or a Cunninghand.
