Closing a little early because all submitters have voted. With 7 points, Efrem is the winner with his Arctic fox! Mike's waxy frog skin finishes in second with 5.

OLOLIUQUI are the psychoactive seeds of the morning glory. It became clear early on that folks were good at guessing the correct definition. In retrospect, I could have abbreviated the OED definition, but I think Mike's submission (on the basis of it including a little Latin) gave me some false confidence that the real definition would slip under more folks' radars.

As an aside, Dan brought up that ololiuqui is "three palindromes sandwiched together". Submitters did a good job of identifying the Mesoamerican origins of the word, but there are some common English words that share this 3 adjacent palindromes structure, e.g., millimeter, pipettes, nemesis, opponent, minimum. Regardless, I certainly concede that ololiuqui is a strange-looking word.
