All right everyone, our new word is a doozy:

CUT-PYOCK

Please send me two definitions you think have a chance of faking everyone out by 3 PM EST on Global Handwashing Day, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 C.E. Good luck!

And will we then get 4 votes apiece?

All these limits are so arbitrary. Let's send in as many definitions as we can come up with - and then vote for all those we like! Down with tyranny! Let freedom ring!

Efrem

P.S. Is this word in the Cyrillic alphabet? Is that permitted? Can I deal one in Arabic or Japanese?

I'm just arbitrarily changing the rules. Kidding, I just have mental dyslexia. (Dysthinklia?) Anyway, just one definition is fine as usual, please, thank you.

I know this may sound a bit like the complaints we had up to 2009 from players who wanted to go on using obsolete mail clients that only understood codepage 437 or 850 and could not render HTML, but...

Please don’t use Tengwar in the game. It has no standard encoding (not yet, anyway: there is a Unicode proposal about it) and will result in mojibake for most of us.

Of course—if you can find it as a catchword in a dictionary of English:  1(a)🗨β and 🗨κ.

Glenn,

Aside from the definition count, do you really mean EST? The U.S. eastern time zone is on EDT until the Sunday after Hallowe'en.

Yes please, Glenn. Thanks.

I spent a week there in June, but such details obviously escaped me.

Best wishes,  Tim.

I sometimes think nitpicking is a secondary game.

I’m still trying for that elusive deal-with-no-mistakes.

There have been, in the past, I hasten to say, players for whom it seemed to be the primary game.
