Here are 13 definitions for CUT-PYOCK, one of which came from an English dictionary. Please submit two guesses which one by 3PM EDT (or whatever time zone I'm in), International Day For The Eradication Of Poverty, October 17, 2025. Good luck with that!

1. [Scot.] a local name for the greater black backed gull from its piratical theft of other gull's catches; [large gutted piebald cock]
2. The local name for the Willow Ptarmigan in Southwest Alaska, from its alarm call.
3. A sense of obligation to return a favor.
4. A wild, crazy, or violent person.
5. Some kind of venereal disease.
6. A variety of heritage tomato first cultivated in 1841 in Cuyler, Pennsylvania in the United States.
7. [Creole] sausage made from small game offal.
8. A short side-track in a wood that looks promising but quickly leads to a thicket or muddy hollow.
9. A notch carved into the rim of a gear to indicate wear beyond acceptable tolerance.
Circumcision.
10. A robber who cuts jewels from the neck of ladies.
11. The stomach.
12. A coarse gravel mined from glacial moraines.
13. [Boxing] A method of blocking an uppercut by jamming the defender's glove or forearm into the attacker's bicep.

Officially, according to British Railways, neither does Platform 9 3/4 at London's Kings Cross Station. Of course, readers of Harry Potter novels know better.

I suggest we follow author Rowling's lead and use that number for it.

I take it as a second sense of #9. Imagine a semicolon instead of a full stop before it. That is much more plausible than assuming a proofreading lapse.

I may not vote because I'm DQ, but if I could vote, one would go to #9. I haven't laughed so loudly at a definition since Round 186.

British Railways doesn’t exist, and neither does the platform. One is history and the other is fiction.
Instead I suggest that we treat all of the text between "9." and "10." as the submission that Glenn assigned the number 9 to.

Paul, and what if "circumcision" had been combined with number 10? My mind goes to family jewels and all that.
