I am ending the voting early since everyone who submitted a definition and was not DQ has voted.  I knew lemures was not a good word, but I did not have time to find a better one.  The results bear that out. The correct definition was the first one, hostile spirits of the unburied dead.  Two players knew the word, Glenn Davis and Paul Keating, though I just found out that Paul knew it when he said so publicly, since only half of his emails get through directly to my address. Glenn did not submit a definition. Every player but Tim Lodge voted for the correct definition, giving me a D7.  Mike Shefler takes the deal with 5 points.

Take it away, Mike!

He voted accidentally, then apologized to me privately. I hadn't realized his apology was private. In fact, I never acknowledged that he was DQ, so he may have been genuinely unsure if he was. Instead of offering a definition, he had asked, "I believe I am DQ for this word. Does it mean "spirits of the dead"?". That was essentially correct. On the other hand, the real meaning was so obvious that nearly everyone voted for it, and one player submitted a very similar definition. The real problem was that I was too busy and exhausted to deal properly. My apologies.

Tony,

This is something I would normally send a private message about but for obvious reasons I can’t. Of the 4 emails I sent you in Round 3580, I know that one (the DQ) disappeared without trace, and another (the def) got stuck between mailman.witsig.org and isanybodyhome.com, with the one saying that it could not raise the other. (Am I right in guessing that both of those domains are yours?)

Now that I am back at a computer and have a proper mail client that will display message headers, I would like you to send me whichever of the other two emails I sent (or both if you got both), as attachments not inline forwards, so that I will know which of the two domains to use in future, and maybe work out why the mailservers in the routing dislike hetzner.com so much.
