https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/epdf/10.1080/08912963.2025.2501784The Lower Cretaceous (Aptian – Albian) Eumeralla Formation in Victoria’s Otway Basin offers a window into the dinosaur diversity at higher latitudes of the southern hemisphere during the initial stages of Australia’s separation from Antarctica. This study re-evaluates Browns Creek dinosaur footprints originally identified as being from the ‘Skenes Creek’ but were extracted for museum collection in 1989. We have digitally reconstructed their trackway positions, providing new insights into the locomotive behaviour of the small-bodied dinosaur that traversed the fluvial palaeo-landscape. Additionally, we describe 13 previously unrecorded dinosaurian pedal impressions within a single bedding plane located approximately 220 metres from the original tracksite. These tracks range from small to large tridactyl impressions, attributable to ornithopodan and theropodan trackmakers. As all footprints described in this study are situated in close proximity to Browns Creek, we recommend refraining from attributing them to the neighbouring ‘Skenes Creek’ locality, reserving that designation for the purported footprint discovery reported there in 1978.
