Tsong-Kha-Pa's verses on the 3 principal aspects of the path make very
good sence because without renunciation there is no motivating reason
for liberation, and "supreme enlightenment" is the mind of bodhicitta
and wisdom both realised inseperably. How important is it in all of
Buddhist practice? I am not sure how it fits in with the hinayana
path. Renunciation yes, but bodhicitta?

Without Bodhicitta it would be very difficult to achieve self-liberation (Hinayana goal) because of the habitual domination of ego. I would think that Bodhicitta is essential for all vehicles since it is the practice that loosens ego's grip and opens/awakens the heart.

But why the goal of enlightenment vs. Bodhisatvahood vs. good human being? I guess if you truly want to help all sentient beings from the 3 times, in all realms and 10 directions, the goal cannot be less than full enlightenment!

Then it would follow that the enlightenment would be impossible without the understanding and realization of the "correct view" of emptiness and dependent arising. There is no way of becoming enlightened without cutting that giant sap root of ignorance.

All three principles; renunciation, Bodihcitta, and the correct view are needed to make progress on the path to enlightenment.  Each alone is not enough.  Although, would the actual experience/realization of emptiness lead to the realization of the other principles?.....I dunno!

Hi everyone
I think Henayana and Mahayana both accept Buddhichitta needed for
achieved Enlightenment.
They have a one question about Buddhichitta needed for all three
Vehicle. Does Buddhichitta needed for some one who just wants to
achieve liberation from samsara (not enlightenment)? I think no
needed some one who just wants to liberated from samsara. In the
lamrim talking about three scope path, its talking about some one who
wants to achieve enlightenment for all sentient being, not just
liberation. So all the scope which mentioned from Lamrim needed all
three principle path and its very important and needed for their
practice all the time.
summary: Person who wants to achieve enlightenment weather Hinayana or
Mahayana doesn't metter has to be practice about three principle
aspect of the path.
Thanks all
