Dear members of DCAA, 亲爱的DCAA成员们,

 

Thank you for your continuous support to the Delaware Chinese American Association (DCAA) and our Chunhui Chinese School.   DCAA was founded in 1996 to build our Chunhui Chinese School as a non-profit organization, and has been the governance body to run our Chunhui Chinese School since then.

 

In addition to the responsibility to the Chunhui Chinese School,  DCAA Board Directors also lead the effort of community activities to promote the appreciation of Chinese culture and to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese American community and the community at large. 

 

Per DCAA bylaws, we need to elect new DCAA directors every the other year, and each DCAA board director can server up to two terms.   Now it's that time. After working on soliciting candidates as the fresh blood for DCAA board to better support the community, DCAA election committee has received below nominees. 

To make the voting process easy, you can vote via email or go to the link in the announcement.  You can simply select the candidates below with 'X' mark in square brackets:

Biography of Candidates

 

1.      Icy Chen worked as a part-time wedding photography since 2015. She has been helping planing couple wedding related events and taking photos, videos for weddings. Since 2016 Wanying working as a financial advisor. During the time of working, she responses for company’s marketing design and planning financial seminars. Location checking, conference room booking, event arranging are the most common things she worked with.

  


2.      Hao Hui (回浩) has actively involved in many local Chinese community activities during the past several years and showcased strong networking, collaboration, stewardship and organization skills as well as his enthusiasm of participation in local community services. He volunteered his effort and time in a need basis at local Chinese community events as well as other volunteer events organized by his company. Hao and his family have happily lived in Delaware since 2010. Hao now is working in Bank of America as quantitative finance manager in model risk management. He graduated in 1999 from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with his M.S degree in Mechanical Engineer and later Master Degree in Statistics from Ohio State University.

 


3.      Liu, Jun (刘军) and his family came to Delaware in 2010. Since then, Jun has participated many community volunteer activities, including, but not limited to,  poverty alleviation (via serving Newark food bank), children care (via serving Newark Day Nursery Daycare Center), environmental care (via participating Christiana river clean and clear events), and Chinese community service (via United Way activities in CACC / DCAA). While enjoying the education service and special events organized by DCAA, Jun would like to serve DCAA board at his spare time. 

 

Jun received his PhD in Electrochemistry / Material Science in 2006, and served quite a few organizations since graduation. Jun worked as Senior Research Scientist and Project Leads in DuPont for 7 years (2010 - 2017), and he joined FMC and served as Head of Global R&D in FMC Lithium since 2017.


 

4.      Xiaoming Ma (麻晓明) is currently working at Katabat, a Wilmington based Financial Software Company, as a Director of Software Engineering. She earned her M.S. in Computer Science from University of Delaware in 1999 and her B.S. in Computer Science from Shandong University in 1995.

 

Xiaoming has been heavily involved in Delaware Chinese community activities for many years. She has served as graphic designer and editor for Chun Hui School Year Book for all the years, volunteered in and helped organize all kinds of school events year round. Each year she devoted a lot time in many DCAA events including Chinese New Year Celebration. And in recent years she also contributed tremendous efforts to CACC Chinese Festival as food court leader and dance performer. Xiaoming received “DCAA Outstanding Community Service Award” and other recognitions in the past few years.

 

When she isn’t glued to a computer screen, Xiaoming loves to do dances with dance club friends in a variety of forms, and to go skiing with family and friends during winter. She recently joined DEER running club organized by her friend and has finished 2 half-marathon competitions in the past one year.

 

Grateful for an amazing group of people in Delaware Chinese American community, Xiaoming would want to serve with the DCAA board if elected so that she could have the honor to better serve the community for the years to come.

 


5.      Ou, Zhaoyang (欧朝阳) Zhaoyang Ou and his family relocated to Delaware in 2013 and have been active members of Delaware local Chinese community since. From 2015 till now, Zhaoyang Ou has served in Chun Hui Chinese School as its PTA leader which helps organize parents-on-duties throughout school year as well as support many school and DCAA events. He has also volunteered in local community events such as "Chinese Festival" held annually at CACC. In 2016, Zhaoyang Ou received “DCAA Outstanding Community Service Award”. Besides serving Chinese community, Zhaoyang Ou regularly volunteers as judges and demonstrators in local and state-wide science and STEM fairs.

 

Zhaoyang Ou is currently working as a Polymer Scientist in W.L. Gore & Associates. He resides in Hockessin, Delaware with his wife and son. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science and Engineering from University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2007. Prior to moving to Delaware, he has studied, worked and lived in Georgia, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania.


 

6.      Shaoming Qu (曲少明)Shaoming and his family have been living in DE since 2001. He has worked in major financial firms including American Express, Bank of American and Chase. He is now serving at WellsFargo.

 

Shaoming has volunteered to offer help to some previous community activities organized by DCAA and Chun Hui. He considers it to be a great honor to have a chance to serve Chinese Community more through DCAA.

  


7.      Wang, Siqun (王思群) is currently a technical manager at DowDuPont’s Corteva Agriscience. Since 1999 Siqun has worked in several businesses including Central Research and Development, Nutrition and Health, Qualicon and Pioneer. He also worked in Agilent Technologies from 2002 - 2004.

 

Siqun is always willing to serve our community and has been actively served our community in many different aspects.  He believes that everyone should participate in building a vibrant community. He has been on the DCAA Board for six terms since 2004. He also served as the Chair of Chunhui Chinese School Council in the past.  He would be honored to serve again if elected.

 

 

8.      Ping Xu (徐平) Born and raised in Shanghai, I received my Bachelor of Arts in English. I came to Delaware in 1988 and I have received the degrees of Master of Marine Policy (MMP) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Delaware and J.D. from University of Maryland School of Law.

 

Community service is my passion. I served as the President of Chinese Students and Scholars Association at University of Delaware. For over 20 years, I have been hosting Dumpling Parties for the newly arrived Chinese students and scholars at my residence. A member of CACA, I served on the CACC Board and DCAA board. I also served as the Principal of Chun Hui Chinese School.

 

I was in the Financial Planner business and still hold a Certified Financial Planner® designation. As a Realtor®, I have been assisting clients in the buying/selling and renting homes since 2003. I am also a licensed attorney in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

“A sprinkle of grace received shall be retuned with fountain flow of thanksgiving.” I have benefited form the help from other people upon my arrival in Delaware and during my difficult times here. It is time for me to give back to the community.

 

I live with my wife and my five-year-young daughter in Hockessin, Delaware. My wife is a CPA. She received her bachelor’s education in Taiwan and she served as a treasurer for Chinese School of Delaware and CACA.

 

With my background, education, and past and current involvement in the community, I am in a unique position to serve the DCAA community and the Chinese community in Delaware. Please allow me to serve by casting your precious vote for me. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity.

  

 

9.      Wei Zhang (张薇Juliet) has been living in DE since 1991. After obtaining her Master of Arts degree on Economics from the University of Delaware, she became a real estate agent in 1993. Licensed in DE and PA, she is a Five Star Outstanding Real Estate Agent that has provided committed and exceptional real estate service for over 25 years! She holds a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) authorized by the National Board of Realtors that indicates her 25 years of real estate experience and expertise.

 

In addition, she has been actively involved in a variety of volunteer work for our community over 20 years. Dedicated and passionate, she not only has participated in forming DCAA and the Chun-Hui Chinese School in 1996, but also she has served 2 terms (8 years) as a DCAA board member. By working together with other DCAA board members and the Chun-Hui Chinese School's staff and teachers, she has contributed her time, efforts and talent in serving the community for many years! Both of Juliet's two young professional sons, Michael and Johnny, have personally attended and benefited from the Chun-Hui Chinese School growing up.

 

Together with your help and support, she would like continue her volunteer work in making our Chinese American community much stronger and united.

 

She would like to thank you in advance for your vote in helping her become a DCAA board member. Thus allowing her to serve our community and the Chun-Hui Chinese School once again. 10.   Zhang, Man (张曼) moved from Michigan to Delaware in March 2011 and has been working as a Product Quality Engineer in Dow Chemical Company, Newark site for over 7 years.  Her former working experience includes research scientist in General Motors Technical Center for over 3 years and process engineer in Intel Ramp Fab for 2.5 years.  When her daughter attended the Chunhui Chinese School in September 2011, she also joined Chunhui PTA organization and has been a PTA member since then.  She was the PTA leader in 2013-2014 school year,  received twice "DCAA Outstanding Community Service Award" in 2013 and 2017.  She also attended many volunteer activities sponsored by her working place, such as volunteered for 2016/2017/2018 Delaware Special Olympics Games, 2016 New Castle County Habitat Housing Program, and several visits to DE Food Bank.   She also encouraged her daughter to do volunteer works for Chunhui Chinese School.  Her daughter volunteered in 2017 Chinese Festival and 2018 Chinese New Year Celebration Party, also served as a TA for Teacher Li, Chunlan's Figure Craft class in 2017-2018 school year.  Zhang, Man is willing to contribute more to the Delaware Chinese community and help our community to continue to be the bond of friendship between Chinese and America cultures.

 


11.   Zhang, Zhiying (张志英) has enthusiastically participated and supported the community in past several years, including Chinese New Year celebration, Chinese Festival and Cultural events at Senior and disability centers.

 

She has demonstrated strong leadership and organization skill through these efforts. Zhiying received “DCAA Outstanding Community Service Award” in 2016.  She and her family have happily lived in Delaware since 2001. She is currently working in Bank of America as Consumer Product Strategy Analyst in Global Technology and Operations, collection & recovery division. Zhiying received B.S. from Northeast Normal University with 3 times Leadership award in 1985 Changchun, China and received an outstanding graduated and honor student in Chubb Institute in computer programming 2001 in US. She is looking forward to serve on the Delaware Chinese American Association board for the coming year.
