Has anyone heard anything from the city about when they might be starting to meet with residents about the neighborhood plan? Is there a team in place for the project yet? I do understand it might not be the number one priority for the new administration.

Hello Marilyn,

Chris, Paul, Louisa, and I attended a meeting at City Hall on Friday afternoon. Dan Bartman of the Planning Department is sharing a blurb with us to give us an update in that they are finalizing the scope and schedule of the Neighborhood Plan. They recently hired a Deputy Director and are bringing in 2 new Senior Planners to the department. Dan said he would send an email update to us for the Monday meeting, and that they're happy to send a representative to give updates at our future meetings.

The office is run out the TAB building, and they mentioned that means that their planners are often in and around Davis Square. They mentioned tabling Davis Square and being present for community engagement over the summer with a target for the plan for fall. We suggested hosting an information session similar to the Development Co-Learning session to help inform our members as to what the Neighborhood Plan process will be like, and how we can all participate fully.

We will continue to ask about the timeline and engagement and share what we learn, and we'll continue to ask the Planning department to engage DSNC through the process.

Cheers,
Elaine

That is very helpful.

I suggest that DSNC establish a committee to work with Planning on a Davis Square Plan and also incorporate the visions and suggestions that are in SomerVision 2040 https://www.somervision2040.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2021/10/SomerVision-2040-Adopted.pdf, and are in Somerville’s Climate Forward Plan https://www.somervillema.gov/departments/programs/climate-forward  and carry forward the Davis Square Neighborhood Plan (proposed in 2019) https://www.somervillebydesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/20190926-Davis-Square-Neighborhood-Plan-Updated-v2.pdf
