Volkswagen Settlement Stakeholder Meeting: Seeking your Input on Potential DFW Air Projects

You are invited to a public meeting to learn about what's happening in your community to clean up the dirty diesel emissions that Volkswagen created - and provide your feedback on potential projects in the North Texas area using settlement money.

Last year, a judge ruled that Volkswagen will pay $15 billion dollars in the US settlement of its emissions cheating scandal.  In Texas, $200 million has been set aside for environmental mitigation under the multibillion-dollar settlement. These funds have been designated for the specific purpose of cleaning up our air - and we want to ensure that these funds are used to help our communities breathe easier.

Because this is a part of a settlement, the funds are restricted for specific air-related projects.  Come give us your feedback on proposed project ideas that relate to vehicles in our communities - from our personal vehicles to municipal fleets to the heavy equipment used to haul freight.

DFW Meeting Dates:

Tue., July 25  - Brookhaven College, 3939 Valley View Ln. Farmers Branch, Texas, 75244
Building H, Boonesville Room, 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Sponsors:  Public Citizen, Dallas Sierra Club, Tarrant County Environmental Awareness Group, Liveable Arlington, Downwinders at Risk

Wed., July 26 - Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens,  Room TBA, 7 to 9 pm,
3220 Botanic Gardens Blvd, Ft. Worth, Texas 76107
Sponsors:  Public Citizen, Tarrant County Environmental Awareness Group, Ft. Worth Sierra Club, Liveable Arlington, Downwinders at Risk

Vehicles account for more than 50% of all the DFW air pollution. During this presentation, we will provide a brief overview of why reducing diesel emissions can have a big impact on you and your family's health, and we'll share with you some cutting-edge ideas that VW could fund to help us all breathe a little easier.
