What a treasure we have in the children who are involved in
our Corps. Last Saturday night at the Gold Coast Temple was "Kid's Celebrate
Christmas" with the children of the Sunday School and the SAGALA Sections
(Monday night kid's activity) featured in a number of ways. It certainly
made for an inspiring and
enjoyable time for all who were there.

I am sure every adult present would have given praise to God
for each child, their parents and the volunteers who given so many dedicated
hours of service in leading and training the young people.

As we think of these young people, we can think about God
and his only son, who he entrusted to a young couple and allowed to be born
in
a stable at the back of an inn in Bethlehem.

While Jesus address his words in today's reading to tired
and worried adults, I think there is a lesson in them for all of every age
and
every condition of life.

29
Walk with me
and work with me--watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I
won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.

30
Keep company
with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

It will help me I am sure to focus and meditate on the words
of that wonderful Christmas Carol "Once in royal David's city".

Once in royal David's city

Stood a lowly cattle shed,

Where a mother laid her baby

In a manger for his bed.

Mary was that mother mild,

Jesus Christ her little child.

He came down to earth from Heaven

Who is God and Lord of all,

And his shelter was a stable

And his cradle was a stall;

With the poor and mean and lowly

Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

And through all his wondrous childhood

He would honor and obey,

Love and watch the lowly mother

In whose gentle arms he lay.

Christian children all must be

Mild, obedient, good as he.

For he is our childhood's pattern;

Day by day like us he grew;

He was little, weak and helpless;

Tears and smiles like us he knew;

And he feeleth for our sadness,

And he shareth in our gladness.

And our eyes at last shall see him

Through his own redeeming love;

For that child so dear and gentle

Is our Lord in Heaven above.

And he leads his children on

To the place where he is gone.

PRAYER:

Father, thank you that Jesus, your son, can be our childhood
pattern. I pray for parents and others with responsibility for training our
children. May I do my part to share the joy of Jesus today. Amen.

Matthew 11 (The Message)

27 Jesus resumed talking
to the people, but now tenderly. "The Father has given me all these things
to do and say. This is a unique Father-Son operation, coming out of Father
and
Son intimacies and knowledge. No one knows the Son the way the Father does,
nor
the Father the way the Son does. But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready
to
go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen.

28 "Are you
tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and
you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest.

29
Walk with me and work with me--watch how I do it. Learn
the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on
you.

30
Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely
and lightly."
