babies. Mary would be the mother of one, and her older cousin, Elizabeth
would
be the mother of the other one. As soon a s she could Mary went to Elizabeth
and today, we
read of their meeting and the excitement Elizabeth
shared with Mary.
Luke 1:39-45 (The Message)
39-45Mary didn't waste a minute. She
got up and traveled to a town in Judah in the hill country, straight
to Zachariah's house, and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth
heard Mary's greeting, the baby in her womb leaped. She was filled with the
Holy Spirit, and sang out exuberantly,
You're so blessed among women,
and the babe in your womb, also blessed!
And why am I so blessed that
the mother of my Lord visits me?
The moment the sound of your
greeting entered my ears,
The babe in my womb
skipped like a lamb for sheer joy.
Blessed woman, who believed what God said,
believed every word would come true!
For us Christmas is an exciting
celebration. It is a time of family and
friends sharing their joy. There are
gifts. There is song. There is food. There is so much we share at this time.
Christmas ! So many things to do! So many things to get! I have been
reminded
in recent days of Matt Redman's song:
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about you, it's all about you Jesus
I'm sorry lord for the thing I've made it
When it's all about you, it's all about you Jesus.

I see the challenge to look to the real
things of Christmas. To look to the reason Jesus came. The world needed a
Saviour. Look to the unexpected way God sent his Son. Our worship is to
welcome
and praise him.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank you for Christmas
and all it means to the relationship between you and me. Help me to grow in
that relationship as I seek to know more of you. Help me to see and show
Christmas is all about you, Jesus.
"I'm
