SECOND
SUNDAY OF ADVENT

This is the day the LORD has made;

let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm
118:24 New International Version)

The night has passed, and the
day lies open before us;

let us pray with one heart and mind.

As we rejoice in the gift of
this new day,

so may the light of your presence, O God,

set our hearts on fire with love for you;

now and for ever. Amen.

Luke 1:67-79 (The Message)

The Song of Zechariah. (Benedictus).

67-79Then Zachariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and
prophesied,

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;

he came and set his people free.

He set the power of salvation in the centre of our lives,

and in the very house of David his servant,

Just as he promised long ago

through the preaching of his holy prophets:

Deliverance from our enemies

and every hateful hand;

Mercy to our fathers,

as he remembers to do what he said he'd do,

What he swore to our father Abraham-

a clean rescue from the enemy camp,

So we can worship him without a care in the world,

made holy before him as long as we live.

And you, my child, "Prophet of the Highest,"

will go ahead of the Master to prepare his
ways,

Present the offer of salvation to his people,

the forgiveness of their sins.

Through the heartfelt mercies of our God,

God's Sunrise
will break in upon us,

Shining on those in the darkness,

those sitting in the shadow of death,

Then showing us the way, one foot at a time,

down the path of peace.

Don't assume that God's dismissed you from
his mind,

Don't assume that God's forgotten to be
kind;

For no matter what you do, his love still
follows you;

Don't think that you have left him far
behind.

Chorus

For his love remains the same,

He knows you by your name,

Don't think because you failed him he
despairs;

For he gives to those who ask

His grace for every task,

God plans for you in love for he still
cares.

2.

Don't assume that God will plan for you no
more,

Don't assume that there's no future to
explore;

For your life he'll re-design, the pattern
be divine;

Don't think that your repentance he'll
ignore.

3.

Don't assume you cannot give what he'll
demand,

Don't assume that God condemns you out of
hand;

For he gives to those who ask his grace for
every task;

Don't think that God will fail to
understand.

Psalm 85 (The Message)

1-3 God, you smiled on
your good earth!

You brought good times back to Jacob!

You lifted the cloud of guilt from your people,

you put their sins far out of sight.

You took back your sin-provoked threats,

you cooled your hot, righteous anger.

4-7 Help us again, God of our help;

don't hold a grudge against us forever.

You aren't going to keep this up, are you?

scowling and angry, year after year?

Why not help us make a fresh start-a resurrection life?

Then your people will laugh and sing!

Show us how much you love us, God!

Give us the salvation we need!

8-9 I can't wait to hear what he'll say.

God's
about to pronounce his people well,

The holy people he loves so much,

so they'll never again live like fools.

See how close his salvation is to those who fear him?

Our country is home base for Glory!

10-13 Love and Truth meet in the street,

Right Living and Whole Living embrace and
kiss!

Truth sprouts green from the ground,

Right Living pours down from the skies!

Oh yes! God
gives Goodness and Beauty;

our land responds with Bounty and Blessing.

Right Living strides out before him,

and clears a path for his passage.

O worship the King, all glorious above;

O gratefully sing his power and his love;

Our shield and defender, the Ancient of
Days,

Pavilioned in splendor and girded with
praise.

2.

O tell of his might, O sing of his grace,

Whose robe is the light, whose canopy
space;

His chariots of wrath the deep
thunderclouds form,

And dark is his path on the wings of the
storm.

3.

The earth with its store of wonders untold,

Almighty, thy power hath founded of old,

Hath stablished it fast by a changeless
decree,

And round it hath cast, like a mantle, the
sea.

4.

Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite?

It breathes in the air, it shines in the
light,

It streams from the hills, it descends to
the plain,

And sweetly distils in the dew and the
rain.

5.

Frail children of dust and feeble as frail,

In thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;

Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the
end,

Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend.

6.

O measureless Might! Ineffable Love!

While angels delight to hymn thee above,

The humbler creation, though feeble their
lays,

With true adoration shall sing to thy
praise.

Veil Ministries presents a

WORSHIP SERVICE (Harvest Service) for SUNDAY 4th December 2011

http://www.veilministries.org/1st_sunday.html

(OzThoughts has no connection with Veil
Ministries but believes it is a great concept in ministry)

Veil Ministries was originally produced for
those who, for any reason, were unable to attend a church service. If
regular
church-goers also find the site useful, we are pleased to welcome you, too.
The
ministry welcomes Christians of all denominations and seeks to share the
Christian way of life with those who find they can identify with its
ministry.

The title of the web site, 'Veil Ministries' was chosen as a reminder that
the
sacrifice of Jesus made it possible for us all to have access to God through
him. The veil beyond which only the High Priest had been allowed to go, was
now
torn to give us all access to the holy of holies.

(And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the
bottom -Matt. 27:51)
