Hello EOHers,                  please RSVP soon!! (to me...Denton)

This Sunday (May 17th) we plan to go bird watching/hiking at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum .  We will be meeting at the refuge at 8:00am!  There are 2 SEPTA buses and 1 train that bring you to the refuge (details here); however, Prof. Jennifer Taylor has offered to provide transportation to extra nice people.

I have watched a fair share of birds in my life (mainly chasing  pigeons through the Philly streets), but, I've never actually been 'bird watching' (birding).  However, our great Profs. (and semi-professional bird watchers) Jennifer Taylor and Carol Ann Gross-Davis have offered to provide us with some binoculars and birding guide books and will be our guides for the trip.

"Over the years, the refuge has become a resting and feeding area for more than 280 species of birds, 80 of which nest here.  Fox, deer, muskrat, turtles, fish, frogs and a wide variety of wildflowers and plants call the refuge "home"."

--When: 8am Sunday 17th
--Why: Enjoy life, enjoy nature, enjoy friends, learn, relax, exercise, play around in a Superfund site (poor oil covered turtles!), and more!...
--How: hopefully Prof. Jen Taylor will explain this

Please call or email me with questions or comments!!

**please RSVP soon**

Enjoy,

Denton,

Due to our schedules, Sunday is going to be the better day.  I think meeting at 8:00 at the refuge would be best.  If anyone needs a ride I can provide lots of seats as we are car-sitting and will have two vehicles.

Please share this with students and also let me know about RSVPs.  I have 5 pairs of binoculars, but if more folks are coming, I can check into what the refuge might be able to provide.

Take care,

Jennifer A. Taylor, PhD, MPH
