The Environment Section of the American Public Health Association is
offering scholarships for students planning to attend the American
Public Health Association 137th Annual Meeting & Expo Philadelphia, PA
November 7-11, 2009 The theme of the meeting this year is "Water and
Public Health". The Environment Section is providing these
scholarships to encourage strong participation among students with an
interest in environmental health.
The Environment Section is offering two types of scholarships.
Students may apply for a scholarship in either of two categories:
a) Student registration scholarships
b) Student registration and travel scholarships

Please only apply for one of the two categories. All students may
apply for registration scholarships. However, only students who are
purchasing tickets to travel to the meeting may apply for a travel
scholarship. In order to apply for the scholarship, please provide the
following information:

1. Name, e-mail address, contact phone number
2. School, department, and major
3. High  school, undergraduate or graduate student
4. Member of APHA? APHA member ID # and  what APHA section(s) have you
joined? Have you participated in the Environment Section and if so, in
what capacity
5. Submit an essay no longer than 300 words about what you hope to
gain by attending  the APHA meeting and participating in the APHA
Environment Section
6. Are you applying for a registration scholarship, or a registration
and travel scholarship
7. What is the total scholarship amount you seek and what are the
components of that cost
8. Established need for travel support will be considered
9. Award recipients are expected to get involved with an APHA
Environment Section Committee, please state which Committee you will
volunteer with

Submit your entire application by e-mail before 5pm on June 12, 2009
to rtg...@nyu.edu. Scholarship recipients will be notified if they
have received an award by e-mail on July 15, 2009. Once notified,
students will need to submit their receipts for registration and/or
travel in order to be reimbursed.
Awardees are required to attend the Environment Section Social and  to
participate in the Environment Section Business Meetings.
