Mayor Nutter (above) and the City of Philadelphia will host the 2nd Annual Philly Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 4, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to Keep America Beautiful, Philadelphia set a record last year for the largest cleanup in U.S. history. Together, volunteers removed over 2.5 million pounds of trash and 48,000 pounds of recyclables.
Philadelphia’s youth also played a big role in last year’s effort, proving that young people are a vibrant and an important piece of the dynamic fabric that makes up Philadelphia’s communities. Because of this, Mayor Nutter and the City of Philadelphia are asking for their participation in this year’s effort.
