The Northeast Institutional Repository Day 2025 (NIRD25) Program Committee is pleased to issue its Call for Proposals for the seventh annual Northeast Institutional Repository Day, a free event that brings together those in the Northeast (and beyond!) who manage or are interested in institutional repositories, digital collections, and digital preservation. With the success of our recent events and in an effort to continue to make NIRD available to as many participants as possible, all presentations will be delivered virtually.
December 4th and 5th, 2025
Time: 12/4 afternoon ET (UTC -5); 12/5 morning ET (UTC -5)
Virtual event (Zoom link will be provided to registrants)
The NIRD25 Program Committee welcomes any proposal related to institutional repositories, especially work that can be applicable to other institutions, even those working on different platforms. Tell us what helped or hindered your work in these or other areas:
Improving accessibility of repository content or platforms
IR metadata interoperability, ingest, maintenance, or authority management;
Stewardship of digital files in various formats;
Repository migration, updates, and integrations with other library or scholarly communications systems;
Outreach efforts and collaborations with IR stakeholders;
IRs as library publishing platforms;
Equity and inclusion for IR contributors, users, and content;
IR policies;
Tools used within IR workflows (for cataloging, transcription, ingest, metadata reconciliation, etc.)
Proposals that are platform agnostic are particularly encouraged. The Program Committee is not accepting proposals from vendor representatives for NIRD25.
The Program Committee is requesting that proposals fall into the following formats:
Lightning Talk (5-7 min) - a brief, free-standing presentation, with or without slides
Presentation (20 min) - a more comprehensive, free-standing presentation or panel
Important dates:
Deadline for submission: September 30, 2025
Notification of acceptance: October 31, 2025
Please submit your proposal using this form.
In keeping with the collaborative and platform-agnostic spirit of the NIRD community, all forthcoming conference content will be hosted on Zenodo under a CC-BY license.
