The DSpace Community Advisory Team (DCAT) represents the interests of repository managers and administrators across the globe and, indirectly, DSpace end users. DCAT is a permanent DSpace Working Group sponsored by the DSpace Steering Group that advises DSpace Program governance groups.
DCAT participants share information and learn from each other during monthly Zoom calls (the second Tuesday of each month, generally 11 am or 12 pm Eastern Time, depending on the season and preference of current participants).
DCAT participants are primarily repository personnel representing their communities. DCAT performs the essential functions of managing pre-release Testathons and corresponding non-technical documentation efforts. DCAT also gathers feedback, reports bugs, develops projects to support the DSpace community, and advocates for advancing the development of the DSpace software and expanding the DSpace user community.
DCAT Chair
The DCAT Chair is responsible for facilitating the Team. This includes:
Term of Service: One-year renewable term that follows the DSpace Governance year, November 1, 2025 through October 31, 2026.
Qualifications: Candidates for the role of DCAT Chair should be active members of the DSpace community who are repository managers/repository staff (technical/development expertise is not required.) It is expected that candidates will have some familiarity with the DSpace Program; this could include attendance at DCAT meetings and/or DSpace Leadership Group membership and/or participation with a National DSpace User Group. Representatives of DSpace service providers or the DSpace host organization are not eligible to serve as DCAT Chair.
Time Commitment: Volunteer position, 5-10 hours per month
Questions? The current and former DCAT Chairs are happy to answer any questions you may have (Kimberly Chapman, kimberl...@arizona.edu & Maureen Walsh, wals...@osu.edu).
The incoming DCAT Chair will have the opportunity to participate in a DCAT Chair orientation, as well as a DSpace Leadership Group orientation.
