The Open Repositories Steering Committee and Chalmers University of Technology are delighted to announce that the 19th Open Repositories Conference (OR2024) will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, 3-6 June 2024. Local hosts are Chalmers Library/Department of Communication and Learning (CLS), and Chalmers E-Commons/Chalmers Data Office at Chalmers University of Technology.

The annual Open Repositories conference continues its objective to bring practitioners working at the interface of technology and scholarship together. Participants come from higher education, government, industry, libraries, archives and museums to share their experiences and knowledge about repository infrastructure, tools, services, and policies.

The theme for OR2024 is: Empowering Global Progress.

OR2024 provides an opportunity to explore and reflect on the ways repositories enable transparent and sustainable information and data. How can we better utilize repositories for empowering global progress? How can we develop the capacity of institutions to implement sustainable open repositories to improve data equity worldwide and support the SDGs? How can the repository community harness AI responsibly to support their goals?

Submission categories will include posters, workshops, lightning talks, roundtable discussions, papers, and panels. The full call for proposals will be released in October 2023.

Located on the west coast of Sweden, in between the Nordic capitals, home to Volvo cars and the largest port in Scandinavia, with a long maritime and industrial history, modern day Gothenburg is renowned for its warmth, creativity and innovative spirit. The city combines a distinct charm with the pulse of modern urban life. Compact and pedestrian-friendly, this Swedish city is also recognised as the world’s most sustainable destination for meetings. In short, a perfect location for anyone seeking knowledge, inspiration and new encounters.

Chalmers Library and Chalmers E-Commons form the operational core of the development, support and facilitation of open science at the university.

Save the date in your calendars for 2024 and feel free to visit the conference web site for more information, https://or2024.openrepositories.org/. Check out the OR Gothenburg teaser movie!

We hope you will join us in Gothenburg in 2024!
