Is it possible to hotlink images from DSpace 7 or DSpace 8?

Dear All,

Previously, hotlinking thumbnail images from repositories where I harvested their items worked. Now that they have upgraded their repository to DSpace 7.6, the thumbnail no longer shows on my simple item page. We are still in version 6.3 by the way.

I modified my ORE.xml so that it will fetch the thumbnail link based on the harvested item's ORE.xml file:

But since opening/navigating to the THUMBNAIL link prompts me to download the image instead of displaying it on the browser, I suspect this is the reason why the thumbnail is not showing in my simple item view. Is there a workaround for this?
