Hi DSpace community!

We would like to confirm whether the expected behaviour is for collection admin to be able to delete collections under their administrative purview?

We don't see this indicated in the description of the group:  Collection administrators decide who can submit items to the collection, edit item metadata (after submission), and add (map) existing items from other collections to this collection (subject to authorization for that collection) however in the Learning DSpace documentation for Deleting a Collection, 'Collection administrator' is indicated as one of the intended audiences for the guidance.

We have tested deleting collections as collection admin and get errors when we try to do so, but wanted to confirm that we are indeed getting the expected results. If that's the case, I can update the Learning DSpace documentation.

Thanks!

Hi Julia,

As far as I know, the expected behavior is that collection admins should be able to delete the collections they are an administrator of.  It looks like that's reflected in the "Assigning Roles" doc as well, but suggestions or clarifications around that are always welcome - either in the documentation or for that quoted description in the user interface.

About the errors you're facing when trying to delete, if you'd like to try digging further into that would you be able to share your current version of DSpace and the logs for the errors?

Thanks!
-Lia
