Hello everyone.

I would like to know if it is possible to configure a collection so that all its items are private.

Our intention is for the document to be public and accessible via its URL, but not to appear in DSpace or Google search results (although there is no guarantee Google won't index it). I know that for individual items, I can simply change this setting to make the item private:

But is there anything I can do at the collection level so that all new items in that collection are automatically private?

Hi Aroldo,

Unfortunately, there is not currently an easy way to make whole collections private/non-discoverable that I'm aware of.  The existing way to make every item in a larger collection private (outside of manually) would be setting the "discoverable" flag to false in bulk, for example using the REST API to retrieve and patch the items.

As an alternative, if you'd like to change the access permissions for the whole collection it's possible to do that both for existing items and as a default for future items added to the collection: see this thread

That said, if there is interest in making this easier to do out-of-the-box in the future, you can also consider submitting a feature request.

Best,
-Lia
