Can you please publicize DSNC's upcoming pizza & bowling party? Perhaps make some sort of graphic for use on social media and in our new newsletter (if we'll have the inaugural issue by then)?

Monday, July 20 from 6-9pm

Free pizza and bowling. Cash bar. We'll need to cover the tip.

I asked AI for help creating an event flyer and ended up with three rather silly options. See attached. Please choose whichever one you like.

In last night's website meeting, Zachary added the event to the front page of the DSNC website.

Can someone fix the glitchy A.I. bowling balls and the pin phasing through the gutter wall?  I would rather the DSNC and this poster not become known for an A.I. slop poster 😬  Even better would be to depict the type of bowling they actually have at Sacco's!

That aside, we probably shouldn't call it our “Summer Social” since that was what Paul(?) called the Crystal Ballroom social last month.  I do like “Strike Up The Fun”!  Do we also want to note the cash bar on the poster, or just in the accompanying online text?

No worries whatsoever! I don't claim to be a graphic designer and really didn't know what I was doing. It was a fun assignment to try using AI though. But I don't know how to fix the random holes etc...

I'm just trying to move the project forward. We need to get the word out sooner than later if we want anyone to show up!

I tried to use chatgpt to change to candlepins. This is as good as I could get before I hit some kind of image edit limit. If you want I can try again in 24 hours or just use it as is. I did manage to remove the holes from the balls.

I think Elaine's design is classy!

In the past I've sourced authentic real-life photos of things around Davis Square, but in case folks want some non-AI-slop options for quick access to stock photos, I'll point out that Google Image Search has an option to find pics that with copyright terms that allow them to be used freely. Also, anything published before 1931 is in the public domain and free to use. Davis often has a vintage-is-cool vibe, so here's an example search for "vintage bowling" with Creative Commons license.

The license controls are under the "Tools" menu if you are looking for it in the future.

The poster needs to show candlepins (not tenpins) and a small bowling ball that doesn’t have any holes in it.     

Just going into Sacco’s and taking a photo is probably a better idea than using any sort of AI poster generator.

Agreed. Zachary thank you for your improvements and more accurate representation of candlepin bowling. 

One final edit - I’d like to change it from “Donations to DSNC welcome” to “encouraged” at the bottom. (Yes, I know I wrote the original, but just rereading.)

Web team - we should try to get the donate button on the front page of the website prior to the pizza party. Sooner the better!
