Hi Jon

I have seen that RICS have launched a new edition (5th) of the RICS Blue Book but I cannot find a link to download it. It is just taking you through isurv or RICS book to buy a hard copy.

Do you know where I can find out quickly what the main changes are and download a copy please?

Thanks
Laura

Dear Laura

Thanks for your post.

I have done a bit of research and come up with the following.  You will need to be logged in with your membership details...

I hope this is what you are looking for

Kind regards

Jon

Thank you Jon.

Do you know what the main updates are? I've found this link to an article: http://www.rics.org/site/scripts/press_article.aspx?categoryID=509&pressReleaseID=681 which has some of the updates but wondered whether instead of having to read it all again (as I've just been through the entire 4th edition!) that someone may have summarised the changes!

I think the main ones are:-

1. Added section on Property Management to complement GN on Resi Service Charge Code
2. Launched following the recent launch of the RICS residential property management qualification in June
3. Put in place to try and alter public perception on estate agents
4. Brought in line with Brokerage Standards
5. Approved by NAEA, ARLA and RICS

If you know of a quick link with the changes or are doing a web class please let me know.

Thanks
Laura

Hi,

I just have a couple of queries regaring the final assesmet presentation:

  1. Is it best to sit or stand while presenting?
  2. To what extent is it acceptable to read from notes during the presentation?
Thanks in advance.

Steve

Thanks for your query.

1. I would sit.  Why? Well because the assessors are just sitting across a desk from you and standing can be overbearing and imposing on the assessors.  The added benefit is that you can be more controlled and calmer when sitting down.  However, don't slouch.

2.  You should be presenting the presentation perfectly and not reading notes.  By all means have some brief notes available to ensure you have a safety net.  You should be presenting from a learned standpoint and therefore know your project inside out.  Also communication is a level 2 mandatory competency!

I hope this helps

Kind regards

Jon
