Let's meet to discuss budget planning

Hi all,

I've been thinking about the budget proposal we've got to do for the
library. The more I think about it and reflect on the conversations
we've already had on the topic of spending money, the more I think we
ought to meet and discuss the budget proposal in person. So here are
some suggestions for times:

Sunday, October 28: during 4th Sunday lunch
Sunday, November 11: after worship in library
A weeknight between those two dates at 7:00? in the library (any time
first week of Nov. would work better for me)

I don't know when the finance committee meets, but I'd like to be able
to get a budget proposal to them sometime in November so they can
discuss it before going ahead with the 2008 general church budget. I
think meeting on or before Nov. 11 should give us and them enough
allowance for that.

I'm up for suggestions on times. These were the only ones I could
think of that might accommodate the most people. This meeting is not
mandatory, and I'll post minutes here on the group so the conversation
can continue beyond the meeting. I think it will be most helpful to go
ahead and have a face-to-face to clear up some issues and questions
that seem to be permeating other decisions we've discussed here.

Please chime in with your meeting time preference and let's get this
on the calendar.

The Finance Team's next meeting (our first one in a while) is
Wednesday, October 31, at which point the Team will begin discussing
the 2008 budget. The "normal" meeting time for the Finance Team is the
third Wednesday of the month, but who knows what the schedule will be
as we begin the budgeting process. Myka, you might want to inquire of
Doug Wofford to find out what he's thinking about, and how to ensure a
line item for the library in next year's budget.

I haven't really replied to any posts yet because other people seem to have it covered, but I wanted to add that my schedule is pretty flexible and I come either time.

Because of the Finance Team meeting on October 31, let's meet during
4th Sunday lunch. We can sit at the same table and talk numbers while
we eat. This should give us a good place to start and something to
give Finance before their meeting. We can always meet again in
November to polish if we're not able to sufficiently discuss online.
