Last night, 2 UH students stood up for their beliefs and were arrested on the orders of Governor Linda Lingle. This is the latest and most appalling tactic in her continued refusal to dialogue with the concerned parents and students who have been sitting in at her office since last Wednesday.
Today, we ask you to show up in support of those 2 students who can no longer come to the Capitol building's 5th floor due to their arrests. We will be holding a press conference at 4 pm today in the Governor's Office in the Capitol to discuss her refusal of responsibility for the educational crisis that she precipitated with her budget cuts, and the looming deadline to end the furloughs. We will also be addressing the arrests and citations made last night. We really need your support to show the governor that this is not a "small group," or a homogenous one. Please attend.
When: today, Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 4PM
Where: Executive Chambers 5th floor, Capitol Building
Parking: paid parking available in the basement parking lot: bring lots of quarters!
To get there: From Vineyard Blvd, turn mauka on Punchbowl, take the 2nd right on Miller street (will look like a driveway). Park at metered parking only.
Thank you,
