Hi folks,
There's currently an ongoing sit in being led by Save Our Schools Hawaii at Governor Lingle's office. We've been here continuously since 4/7 at 2:30 p.m. and we'll stay as long as it takes. We're asking the Governor to come to the table in good faith with HSTA and DOE and not leave until the Furlough Friday issue is resolved. So far, she's been a no-show, which is not a surprise. We're looking for folks to get the word out:
tweet about us (#sos808), spread the word on facebook (our group is: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=164621803289&ref=ts) and on your own lists.
We also need to get volunteers to stay overnight. They shut down access to the 5th floor (where the governor's office is) by 4:30 (and if you have to leave, you can't come back in), so if you want to stop by, come before then. Bring a sleeping bag and toothbrush if you can stay overnight. We may have a portapotty tonight, which is a big luxury. Looking for folks to take shifts on Friday, too.
Thanks,
Vernadette
