Fordham University's Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs, in
collaboration with UN and other partners, is organizing a side event during
the UN ECOSOC 2018 Integration Segment meeting, which will take place at the
UN Headquarters from May 1 to 3. The theme is:  "Innovative communities:
leveraging technology and innovation to build sustainable and resilient
societies".

 

The side event will focus on the contributions of the private sector
showcasing cutting edge technology and innovations that strengthen and
enhance resilience of communities and cities to reduce and manage disaster
risk. The objective is to share private sector engagement through
technological innovations that utilize the best science to reduce disaster
risk and help identify the most effective humanitarian interventions and
response to urban emergencies and disasters in order to save lives,
especially among the most vulnerable groups.

 

We are inviting the Google Crisis  Response Team to  join the panel and and
give a presentation of the work it has done in responding to emergency and
humanitarian crisis in several cities of the world.
