Here we go...
SOLMAN, recently into limelight of SAP Industry, many people got
interested and I feel this is right time to post a message on
SOLMAN... oops its nothing but SAP Solution Manager.
I am not gonna define what is Solution Manager.
Features of SOLMAN (Part1),
Early Watch Alert (EWA):
Sometimes the System administrators go bamboozled when they
really donno what went wrong, especially if they have many servers,
Systems, Products blah...blah...blah... in their IT Landscape. What
can this solution manager do? It will collect all the system data from
all the servers, products in your landscape. Then it will give you as
a report with graphics, so that you don't have to go in search of
tcodes/procedures to measure system performance. For example, it can
give you data on memory usage for a particular day or which program
has failed while running or which tcode is consuming much of system
resources. With this report the system administrators can take evasive
action exactly attacking the pain areas.
How the data is collected by SOLMAN? There will be RFCs
between Solution Manager and the Satellite Systems (Satellite Systems
are nothing but your R/3, your SCM or your BW system). There will be
background jobs running both in satellite systems and SOLMAN which
collect data and for creating report.
How do I get this report? You can use tcode DSWP in Solution
Manager to access the reports of each system. Whew, if you feel that's
cumbersome, you can have the reports to your mail ids.
Now a bit of history:Before the advent of SAP Solution Manager, we
used to send these EWA reports to SAP Marketplace where they analyse
the report and suggest preventive actions to be taken.
Hope I was clear in this post...
Feedbacks most welcome, please criticise.
