Hi Buddys,
Another topic being scripted in our Netweaver forum. Any guesses? This
time its SLD (System Landscape Directory). Whatz that? We can say SLD
acts as backbone for XI or even for the whole IT landscape we have.

Nowadays the IT Landscape is becoming very complex, as complex as
WHICH GOLFER DID THAT? puzzle. So to keep track of info about each
system, the software component that is
currently installed, we need to have a concpet. SLD comes to our
rescue here.

SLD holds the System description, the software components that are
installed in your landscape. This SLD is part of Netweaver and needs
no additional installation efforts. You just have to do some
configuration settings to activate SLD. As and when you install a new
system on your NW platform, the info gets updated into your SLD. The
SLD server needs to be a good
server. Needs to have good memory like, 5GB - 8 GB RAM.

The info from SLD can be accessed by any servers, can even be a third
party. What makes this possible? This is possible because, SLD
Complies with International Standards CIM (Common Information Model).
The SLD bridge a componant in SLD converts the system info data into
CIM language.

Hope this is enough for now, may be in future posts I will post more
on SLD.

Happy learning.

Thanks and Regards,
Ragu
