[Copied message from our President, David S.]:
All:

The trail workday is scheduled for this Saturday, April 3rd beginning
at 8:00 am. The bridge has been set on the foundations and the
railing complete. Here is the work that is planned for Saturday.

1. Remove the scaffolding and stage at the maintenance shed for
Chuck
Walker.
2.. Clean up debris around the bridge.
3. Remove the trolley cable.
4. Remove leaves from the trail (rake or leaf blower)
5. Armor need sections of the trail (Georgia buggy will come in
handy
for this)
6. Trim back trail over-growth.
7. Dress up the trail where needed.

Bring your work gloves, shovel, and pruners/loppers. We'll divide up
the work Saturday morning.

Randy, can you bring your trailer and 4-wheeler again. We will need
to bring out the remaining concrete and scaffolding.

WOW!
Great turnout for trail day at Kit McConnico. Much was accomplished
in short order, as more hands make lighter work, or at least take less
time. All scaffolding was removed (thanks again, Chuck for the loan!)
& cleanup around the bridge was finalized. Much of the damage to the
east trail entrance & approach to the bridge was taken care of by some
fine volunteers from LAPS. These folks have a regular contingency of
runners, who are putting this trail to good use & have become faithful
in their volunteerism as well. We are appreciative to Allen & some of
the Boy Scouts who were able to collect much of the debris strewn from
the Tornado. Some of the southwest section of trail was re-dressed,
bench-cutting in the steep sections & armoring a couple of wet spots.
Additional hardening was done on a couple of the northwest sections
the scouts had previously armored. Posts were set in concrete,
preparing for railing alongside the creek on approach to the east side
of the bridge.
Once again, thanks to EVERYONE who sacrificed a bit of your Easter
weekend to knock out a number of different tasks.

John, David and the DET-TRAC Contingent:

The 'Kit Trail' is an awesome place to run (bike/hike) as a result of
your work. I have enjoyed many hours out there-- particularly during
the spring and fall. The dogwood bloom during the last few weeks has
been phenomenal!

Thanks for mentioning the LAPS members who have become active in
assisting your effort to maintain/improve the trail. Amy Tonai and
her 'sidekick' Cindy Springs have been the most dedicated to
providing
support. Amy now represents LAPS as an active participant and
liaison
with DET-TRAC. She keeps us informed on our group page of the
ongoing
activities to enhance local trails. We feel it is key to promoting
enjoyable outings for the community in general to include 'nuts' who,
like us, RUN even when not escaping life-threatening situations. :-)

I'm very proud of the partnership LAPS, ABC, and DET-TRAC have
formed. Look forward to many more celebrations of accomplishment.
