Per correspondence with Julie Shackelford, I would like to get a
response from each member of Angelina Bicycle Club. This is an attempt
to identify each of your favorite 10~15 ride-routes in the ~25 mile
range & under. This will go towards short & long term planning for the
Angelina Trails Network. Identifying each of these, based on your
personal route is not the goal--- we need to make sure we identify the
actual common route, for all user groups to access (consider common
starting locations for group rides, etc.)
Please visit: http://www.mapmyride.com/search Enter your location (if
it doesn’t identify automatically) & locate your favorite rides. If
you don’t find it listed, you can either map it yourself, or forward
the basic route outline, & I can map it. Please give your favorite
routes a ‘star’ (1-5) rating as well. Apply star-ratings to existing
mapped routes as well. If all this seems like too much trouble, simply
reply to me directly, with the basic information, plus star rating & I
will take it from there.
Once you identify your top 10~15 routes, forward me the name
of your top 10~15 routes, so I can compile the data/information for
Julie.
Keep in mind that trails qualify as well as road routes. The
goal is to use this data to link together future endeavors, such as
Cassels Boykin, Azalea Trail, Kit, eventually the 69 railway easement,
with the goal of getting signage or some type of designation for the
bike routes.
We have long-needed signage for many of our regular routes &
this is a big step in the right direction.
