Talon (Ryan & Susan) will be arriving in town tomorrow, to complete
the remaining trail-work they started a few months ago. Anyone
interested in volunteering/assisting during weekdays, as well as this
weekend should call me & I can provide further information. If you are
available to host Ryan & Susan, contact me & we can discuss. I can be
reached at 635-0881.

Progress has gone well, despite a minor setback with some ground-
nesting yellowjackets Ryan found the first day, near the first
switchback to be re-worked. Trail-day turnout was a bit lower than
expected, due to many folks having obligations. In spite of all this,
the added 1/2 mile of additional loop (signage to be added as
'shortcut loop') plus the reworking of the two switchbacks will make
for some nice riding. Ryan, Susan & I rode the entire loop from the
trailhead in clockwise, back to the junction in approx. 25 minutes at
a moderate pace. An actual lap would be around 20 minutes not counting
the entrance trail. Race pace would be closing on 15 minutes for one
lap. (our 2nd & 3rd laps progressively faster, due to impending
thunderstorms.) There will be additional trail work necessary, to work
out some rooted sections, spray roundup on some of the grass comming
up in the upper section of the old Jeep road, armor one of the
switchbacks (prefered option), or build a bridge in it's place at the
first switckback/creek crossing. We do need to consider replacing the
surface on the first bridge on the original handbuilt loop we covered
with sawmill log cutoffs, as well as replacing the little cedar bridge
built temporarily over the small ravine with armoring. Watch for
another scheduled trail workday to be announced.
