DBHDS Updated Advanced DSP Competencies
Pilot Interest Survey
Background:
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), in collaboration with the Provider Issues Resolution Workgroup (PIRW), has updated the Direct Support Professional (DSP) Advanced Competencies. These updates consolidate, streamline, and modernize the competencies. To evaluate the effectiveness of these changes, DBHDS is launching a limited pilot program and is seeking participation from agencies across all regions and of all sizes. Please note only 3 providers per region will be chosen for pilot participation.
Pilot Participation Requirements:
Selected DBHDS-licensed agencies will complete both the current and new, updated advanced competencies checklist (which is now 11 pages total). Selected agencies will complete at least 3-5 checklists related to the competency areas that apply in the setting, depending on agency size. Pilot begins in November 2025 and will end February 28, 2026.
If you are interested in participating in the pilot, please fill out the following survey no later than 10/24/25. This commitment requires participation in a DBHDS training on October 30, 2025 from 1-2pm.
