Supported Decision-Making 2025 Virtual Training Schedule
The Office of Community Network Supports (CNS) at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) offers virtual trainings throughout the year for individuals with intellectual and developmental
disabilities (DD), their families, Community Services Boards staff (CSBs), and those supporting individuals with DD in the community related to Supported Decision-Making and Supported Decision-Making Agreements. Three different trainings will be offered, each
on a quarterly basis throughout 2025.

Supported Decision-Making in Virginia: An Overview for CSBs and Providers
Gain a general understanding of the history of supported decision-making and the difference between supported decision-making and supported decision-making agreements. Learn about Virginia’s
Supported Decision-Making Agreement, the roles and responsibilities of those involved, and tools that can help someone in creating their own supported decision-making agreement.
Who should attend?
People working at CSBs in developmental services, waiver providers, or anyone in the community who works or interacts with people with developmental disabilities (educators, those in the
fields of law, medicine, or finance, etc.) who are interested in learning more about supported decision-making agreements.

Who should attend?
People with developmental disabilities and their family members who are interested in learning more about Supported Decision-Making and the steps Virginia is taking to create a Supported Decision-Making Agreement.

The Spectrum of Decision-Making Options in Virginia:
Supported Decision-Making to Guardianship & Everything In Between
Learn about the decision-making options available to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Virginia. Learn about the difference between capacity, competency, and consent,
as well as how people can get help with making decisions from the least restrictive options (i.e. supported decision-making) to the most restrictive options (i.e. legal guardianship).
Who should attend?
People with DD, their families, people working at CSBs in developmental services, waiver providers, or anyone in the community who works or interacts with people with developmental disabilities
(educators, those in the fields of law, medicine, or finance, etc.) are interested in learning more about Virginia’s decision-making options.
