Community Wealth Builders,
The 2026 DC Budget Hearings have been announced! This is a critical opportunity to share your voice and advocate for policies that support community wealth building, equitable development, and the needs of DC residents.
About the 2026 Budget Hearings
The DC Department of General Services (DGS) and other city agencies will hold hearings in early 2026 to discuss the proposed FY 2026 budget. This is your chance to provide testimony, highlight priority policy areas, and ensure our collective concerns are heard by decision-makers. You can view the full announcement and schedule here: https://lims.dccouncil.gov/Hearings/
Register to Testify
We encourage members to sign up to testify in person or virtually. You can register through the official DC budget site here:
The DGS hearing sign-ups are open: Committee of the Whole (Feb. 11); Facilities (Jan. 29).
Others have a date confirmed, but no link yet to sign up. You can refresh here to see when they populate.
For CBED agencies like DMPED/CFO/DSLBD, we know where they will end up but not when the hearing will be.
A list of hearings we are hoping to get people out to can be found inside the Google Form below. Please fill it out so we know who is testifying and who needs help: Advocate for Community Wealth in the FY 2026 DC Budget

Why a Land Bank?
One of CWB’s key policy initiatives is advocating for a Land Bank to support equitable community development. For more background and research on the Land Bank, including how it could impact housing and economic development (see one-pager attached).
Your participation in these hearings is vital for advancing our shared goals. We encourage you to register early so you don’t wait around on Zoom for too long. If you need help writing testimony or can’t stay on the Zoom all day and need someone to watch a hearing to text you when it’s your turn, let us know!
Keep building,
The Legislative Team

Connecting the power of Green Bank / Green Finance Authority to others, we could create (like a public bank and land bank). Doesn't require adding new funds, just better utilizing what we already have.
Thanks to Mary, Imane, and Sam for your testimonies!!! See their written testimony HERE.
